Research activity, performed in collaboration with Politecnico di Torino, is primarily materials science-based. The preparation of products featuring tailored properties goes through nanoparticle synthesis, ink additivation, inkjet printing, post-processing and characterization.
Magnetic nanoparticles, including iron, maghemite and magnetite are synthesized, using water-based specific methodologies, environmentally friendly and organic solvent-free. Magnetic polymeric matrix nanocomposite materials are developed, in the form of liquid jettable UV-curable formulations.
Metallic nanoparticles, including silver and copper, are synthesized to realize inks for both piezo and thermal printer heads. Composition of the inks is optimized for specific heat treatments, including diode pumped solid state laser annealing and hot-plate annealing. Plasmonic inks are also developed.
We are currently performing research on dielectric jettable nanoparticle-based materials, featuring piezoelectricity and high permeability materials.
